Day Ninety Four: May 15, 2010

Ice Cream and Good Friends

I was having an incredibly sad day. The type that leaves you numb because you feel that you couldn’t feel anything anymore.

And then my sisters and my best friends, Scarlett and Denise came over with ice cream that made it all better.

God has His own perfect timing. This was definitely what I needed. Thank you lovely sisters <3

Day Ninety Two: May 13, 2010

Locked Out

Obviously this isn’t the key in question. My mom and I did the laundry earlier today and you guessed it right, the funniest thing happened: we were locked out of the car.

Which is really funny and spectacular, as long as it’s not happening to you.

But nonetheless, it was quite a day. 🙂

Day Ninety One: May 12, 2010

A pleasant surprise

A few days before discovering one of my favorite books ever in Ed Link, I caught myself thinking about it. I came across this book in High School through a classmate but never found a copy in the bookstores in the Philippines. After awhile, I stopped looking and often stumbled upon it in places of employment.

I love surprises such as this. i was overwhelmed that i found it in Ed Link.

i’m a pretty happy girl.

Day Eighty Nine: May 11, 2010

Material Girl

“Cause we are living in a material world and I am a material girl.”

There used to be a dark time in my past when I’d give a person (usually a girl) a do-over and see if was wearing the right clothes and lived in the right village.

I was ignorant but I was also eleven.

So sometimes, it surprises me that a number of adults still hold on to this nasty habit of judging people based on where they live, the clothes they wear, the other socialites they hang out with and the latest Louis Vuitton handbag.

It’s quite sad really.

It’s a sad reality because everywhere you look, people befriend you not because of who you are or how you’re there for them during the tough times but just based on whether or not you get your clothes from Topshop and how much credit this new friend can give you in the social network.

We’ve been watching too many Molly Ringwald movies and some people never snap out of it.

The sad thing is I can also name a few guys who judge the girls they date based on what they can get out of the the girl: financially.

It used to be the other way around but now that women are gaining independence (or are coming from richer families), guys would rather depend on these rich girls than work.

It’s sad because people should be judged based on how they treat you or how loyal they are. These days these two traits are looked over for a richer friend.

I hope i’m not passing judgement but it is the truth that I’ve come to discover in the world today.

Let’s hope it changes for the better.

Day Eighty Eight: May 10, 2010

Boto Pilipinas, 2010

Yesterday was fun. Yesterday the entire nation came together and voted.

I was, however, an irresponsible citizen and failed to register but to be a part of something that moved the entire nation was just awesome.

Everyone was busy on twitter and facebook brewing their own opinions and such. It’s quite fantastic to know that teenagers and young adults this year are more involved and all have opinions.

It was an incredible experience! To be able to share opinions and to be united in wanting change.

And although Gilbert Teodoro did not win, I know that this country will see change.

I’m looking forward to the rebuilding of this nation in the next six years.

And i’m definitely NOT missing THE next election.

And to my bet: Gibo Teodoro: You are a man of honor. You proved yourself not just in how well and clean you handled your campaign but also in how you handled the outcome of the elections. The Philippines should have more men like you. I know your time will come. Whatever your next endeavor is, rest assured that you would have the support of many. SULONG GIBO. SULONG!

Day Eighty Seven: May 09, 2010

Happy Mother’s Day, Mama

As I said in my facebook status, my mom was the one who always taught me to be strong.

She’s been the rock of my life and she has built a strong foundation. No relationship is perfect but I am grateful that she’s the mom that God blessed me with.

Happy Mother’s Day, Ma! I love you!
